Driven to improve efficiency
Most organisations are now driven to improve internal efficiency and competitive advantage. This makes it difficult to retain a diverse range of skills and resource the unexpected demand or projects require. Indeed when these occur they can place unacceptable demands on the management team or distract individuals from their primary function and have serious effects on performance.
Whilst it makes no sense to have resources'sitting on the shelf' awaiting the unexpected, these demands still need to be dealt with effectively.
Interim management provides additional management skill when it's needed.
